The Magical Arts of Bramble (Nancy) Drewitt

As a Reclaiming Witch and Feri Intiate, Outsider Artist and Rosen Method bodyworker, my art, the art of the craft, and my healing modality, are basically practices of following the threads that call you into mystery. My magical work centres on depth, presence and the textures of experience as a portal to mystery steeped in symbolism, myth and dream.

Simularly, my paintings are not preconceived, but revealed as I follow the threads that emerge by painting one image and then waiting for the next to surface, with paintings often taking close to a year to finish. Likewise, Rosen bodywork uses sacred witnessing and meets the edge of holding in the body. The paths are simular in that there is no agenda or preconception, but rather following the unfolding of what emerges.

With life long roots in social justice and anti-opression, I am committed to making space for everyone’s visions and contributions and increasing the depth and breadth of perspectives, which gifts our ability to co-create and allows us to go places that otherwise would not be possible. Growing up in Winnipeg, land of the Anishinabewaki, Očeti Šakówiŋ (Sioux) and Metis, and as the eldest of 5 with a working class single parent mother, I went on to raise my own son as a single parent. Now grateful to be an old one, I follow the rhythms of a body with chronic pain and devote myself to magic, writing, art, and healing. As a long time member of Reclaiming Vancouver, I have participated in community rituals and organized and taught magic on unceded traditional and ancestral homelands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam),sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations for over 30 years.
